The model well
A well with filters, a treatment unit and tanks serving 400 to 600 people, in Ismailia, Sharqia and North Sinai.
- Two-tank well: 8 taps for 400 people — 15 shares × EGP 20,000 (total EGP 300,000)
- Three-tank well: 10 taps for 600 people — 15 shares × EGP 25,000 (total EGP 375,000)
Details
- A 4×4 m room with a treatment unit that removes impurities and salts, a pump and tanks (1,000 litres each), plus a guard for the well.
- Drilling depth is 40–50 metres; sites are chosen after a field survey and a salinity test.
- Each full share gets a 40×40 cm plaque with three full names.
- Work takes 3 months at most.
- A share can be paid over 20 months (EGP 1,000 or 1,250 a month).
Compared with a station well: the station has a full treatment unit for areas with saltier groundwater, while the model well uses filters and a half unit for fewer people.
